Your data, sorted. No hire needed.
A part-time data person for small businesses. I clean up your data, connect your systems, automate the weekly chores and build the reports you actually use, charged at what a salaried data analyst costs per day, not consultant rates.

Show me where your numbers live: the spreadsheets, Xero or MYOB, the CRM, the shared drive. I'll tell you what I would fix first and roughly what it would take.

Health check
Fixed price · about $1,500 · 2 to 3 days
I go through every data source you have and find what is broken, duplicated, missing or typed in twice. You get a one-page fix list in plain English, ranked by what it costs you.
The list is yours to keep, even if you never hire me again.

Keep it running
One day a week · month to month
New reports, questions answered, things kept tidy as the business changes. Stop any month, no lock-in.
What I work on
- Data audits and clean-upEvery source checked, duplicates merged, the gaps named.
- Data models and storageCloud or on site, sized for a small business, not a bank.
- Dashboards and reportsA few numbers that matter, refreshed on their own.
- Analysis and forecastingSegmentation, forecasting and machine learning when the problem calls for it.
- AutomationThe weekly spreadsheet chore turned into something that runs itself.
- Small appsA simple tool for the job your off-the-shelf software doesn't do.
Automation and private AI
Each of these is something I built and run for myself every day, so you get a working tool, not an experiment.
- Bank and accounts feedsBank, card and Xero or MYOB data pulled in on a schedule, so the numbers are never a week old.
- Web data collectionCompetitor prices, listings or tenders gathered from the web every day into one tidy table.
- Private AI over your documentsAsk questions of your own files, with the AI model running on your own computer instead of someone else's cloud.
- Meeting notes from speechCalls and meetings turned into text and short notes, transcribed on your own machine.
- Browser robots for portal choresThe weekly logins, downloads and form-filling in supplier or government portals, done by a robot.
- Inbox and calendar sortingIncoming email sorted and summarised, and the jobs in it turned into tasks.
- Project health reportsJira, Trello or a spreadsheet turned into a weekly view of what is stuck and why.
- Monitoring and backupsEvery scheduled job watched, failures flagged the same day, backups checked rather than assumed.
Why salary rates
A small business usually has two choices: hire a full-time data person it can't keep busy, or pay a consultancy by the day at rates built for big companies. Neither fits a business that needs a few good days a month.
So I charge about what a senior data analyst on salary costs per working day, and only for the days you need.
| Data consultancy | $1,500 to $2,000 a day |
|---|---|
| Full-time hire | a salary, super and a desk, all year |
| AnalyticRoots | about $600 a day, as needed |
AnalyticRoots started in Auckland, helping businesses grow through data. It is now based in Melbourne and works with small businesses across Australia, in person or remotely.
